A Tribute To: Buddy Holly

He is widely considered one of the most influential figures in the history of music. He is known as a "pioneer of rock 'n roll". And despite the fact that his death was mourned for years, and popularized through the song "American Pie", far too little people know of him today.

His name is Buddy Holly, though he was born Charles Holley. Born into a music loving family, he quickly learned many instruments, including the guitar. He fell in love with rock 'n roll after seeing Elvis Presley live-in concert. After just a few years, he became a figure for rock 'n roll.

Unfortunately, his career did not last long. After getting on flight with fellow musicians Ritchie Valens and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson on February 3, 1959, the plane crashed, killing the trio and the pilot. The world was shocked, and the mourning would later be expressed in the hit song, "American Pie".

Below are some of Buddy Holly's greatest hits, along with Don McLean's tribute to the rock 'n roll legend.
