25 years ago, "Footloose", now widely regarded as a classic, was released. And by next year, Paramount hopes to bank on the wide fan base of the original by creating a remake.
Simply titled "Footloose", the movie is set for release sometime next year. However, with Zac Efron, originally cast as the character Ren (played by famous actor Kevin Bacon in the original), dropping out, it seems that the movie has nothing behind it.
Fortunately, a writer and director (Jon Hartmere and Kenny Ortega, respectively) have already been attached to the movie. This does not confirm that Paramount will be able to make it's planned 2010 release, because no cast members have been confirmed. Hayden Panettiere and Chance Crawford have both been rumored to have cast roles, but little evidence backs these claims up.
Stay tuned for more information on this remake of one of the most memorable movies in the history of films.
